Troy College and Career High School students must pass at least seven (7) out of eight (8)
classes during the previous two semesters, which align with the equivalent of two traditional
marking periods in the Troy School District.

during the previous two semesters, which align with the equivalent of two traditional marking
periods in the Troy School District.
• International Academy must pass at least seven (7) out of eight (8) classes during the
previous semester.
• Middle School students must have passed five (5) out of six (6) classes during the previous
quarter.
2. Academic Progress Monitoring
If the student is ineligible based on the previous semester final grades (based on the district
standard), the student will be ineligible for participation for the complete following semester (unless
eligible by the 60-Day Rule). To maintain eligibility during the current semester, students must
continue to meet the academic standard. Eligibility will be formally reviewed at the end of each
marking period (every 10 weeks). If a student-athlete is not meeting the academic criteria at the
time of a quarterly grade check, they will become ineligible for competition. They may regain eligibility
by submitting a weekly academic progress report confirming that they have met the required
standard. The period of ineligibility will be no less than one full calendar week (from Monday through
Sunday). This also applies to the MHSAA 60-Day Rule.
3. Failure to Comply
Any student-athlete who fails to meet the eligibility criteria as outlined:
•
•
Will be deemed ineligible until deficiencies are corrected.
If deficiencies relate to the previous semester, the student-athlete will be ineligible for a
minimum of sixty (60) scheduled school days of the current semester, or until academic
eligibility is restored, in accordance with MHSAA regulations and TSD academic standards.
4. Exception for New Transfers
Transfer students new to the district will be granted one semester to meet the Troy School District
eligibility requirement. During this transitional semester, these students must meet the MHSAA
minimum standard of passing four (4) classes.
5. Middle School Athletic Eligibility Guidelines (Grades 7–8)
Middle school student-athletes must demonstrate consistent academic progress and positive
behavior to remain eligible for participation in interscholastic athletics, recognizing that participation
is a privilege determined by marking period performance. Student-athletes must pass at least five of
six classes each marking period to be eligible to compete. Any student who falls below this
expectation will be placed on weekly progress monitoring, with academic performance and behavior
reviewed to determine continued eligibility.
