SECTION XIV
Appeal Procedures
A student-athlete found in violation of Sections V–XII of this Code of Conduct has the right to appeal the
disciplinary action imposed, consistent with the appeal process outlined in the Troy School District
Student Code of Conduct.
Initial Appeal Process
•
•
•
An appeal must be initiated in writing (email or letter) to the building principal and/or building
athletic coordinator within five (5) school days of the date the disciplinary action was
communicated.
The building principal or athletic coordinator will convene a meeting within two (2) school days of
receiving the appeal. This meeting will include the student, the coach, and may also include the
parent/guardian.
Following the meeting, the building principal or athletic coordinator will issue a written decision
within two (2) school days, stating whether the disciplinary action is upheld, modified, or revoked.
Further Appeal
•
If the student and/or parent/guardian is dissatisfied with the outcome, they may submit a written
appeal to the district Director of Athletics within two (2) school days of receiving the building level
decision.
In all cases, the student and their family will be informed of their appeal rights and the steps required to
initiate the process.
MHSAA Consideration
Appeals related to eligibility, transfer rules, or violations of MHSAA regulations must be submitted
through the school athletic coordinator or district director of athletics to the MHSAA directly. These
appeals follow a separate process governed by MHSAA policy, and all decisions made by the MHSAA are
final and binding at the state level.
