SECTION XI
Summer and Off-Season Programs
Throughout the summer and off-season, a variety of optional sports camps, clinics, training sessions,
and strength and conditioning programs may be offered to Troy School District student-athletes. These
programs are intended to promote skill development, team bonding, and physical preparedness for
students who choose to participate.
Participation in summer and off-season programs is strictly voluntary. Per MHSAA regulations, studentathletes may not be required to attend or participate in any non-school-sponsored off-season activity as
a condition of:
•
•
•
•
Making a team
Earning a roster spot
Receiving playing time
Being placed at a particular level (e.g., JV or Varsity)
Coaches are encouraged to promote these opportunities as ways to grow but must do so in a manner
that clearly communicates that no negative consequences will result from a student-athlete choosing
not to participate.
The Troy School District is committed to fostering an environment where students feel empowered to
balance athletics, academics, family, and personal well-being—especially during the off-season
months.
