Attendance at Athletic Practice Sessions and Contests
Consistent attendance at practices and contests is vital to prepare students-athletes physically and
mentally, team development, individual growth, and the safety and preparation of all student-athletes.
Student-athletes are expected to attend all scheduled practices, games, meetings, and team events
designated by the coach. Should situations occur when it is impossible for a participant to attend due to
illness, injury, or other required school or family commitments, the student shall make prior
arrangements with the coach for an excused absence.
Excused absences include:

Illness or injury (with appropriate documentation, when applicable)
Required school-related activities (e.g., academic field trips or performances)
Family emergencies or pre-approved commitments
Religious holidays or cultural observances
o The Troy School District honors and supports all religious and cultural celebrations and
recognitions. Student-athletes will be automatically excused from practices or
competitions without penalty for such observances when the coach is notified in advance.
School vacation periods where the student is participating in a school-sponsored or parentapproved trip
In each of these situations, the athlete or family must communicate in advance with the coach or
athletic coordinator to have the absence recognized as excused.
Unexcused Absences
Unexcused absences include:

Missing practice for non-essential personal activities
Unexcused absences may result in:
