Student Attendance Required for Athletics
To be eligible to participate in any athletic practice, scrimmage, or competition on a given day, a student
must be in school for the full instructional day as defined by the Troy School District.
Excused Absences
A student may still be permitted to participate in athletics on the day of an excused absence, provided
the absence aligns with Troy School District attendance policy. Acceptable excused absences include:

Illness (with appropriate documentation)
Medical or dental appointments (with verification)
Court appearances
Religious observances
Bereavement or family emergencies
Pre-approved college visits or academic-related travel
In cases of extenuating circumstances, participation on the day of an excused absence may be granted
with approval by the building principal or their designee.
Unexcused Absences
A student who has an unexcused absence from any part of the school day is ineligible to participate in
athletic activities (including practices, scrimmages, or contests) on that day.
Examples of unexcused absences include:

Skipping class or school
Oversleeping
Leaving campus without permission
Failure to provide appropriate documentation for an absence
Failure to Comply:
Any student found participating in athletics on the day of an unexcused absence will be considered in
violation of the Code of Conduct and will be subject to disciplinary action, including ineligibility for
current or future contests, as determined by the coach, athletic coordinator, and building administrator.
