What Is an AP Course?
The College Board Advanced Placement (AP) courses offer high school students the opportunity to engage in college‑level study
within a supportive secondary school environment. Each AP course follows a curriculum designed in collaboration with college
faculty to reflect the depth, rigor, and expectations of an introductory college class.
Schools must receive AP Course Audit authorization to use the AP designation, ensuring that each course meets the College Board’s
standards for content and instructional quality. AP courses conclude with a standardized AP Exam, which may qualify students for
college credit or advanced placement depending on their exam performance and the policies of individual colleges and university.
