Lettering & Calligraphy (006362)

This course introduces traditional and modern methods in calligraphy and lettering where technical skills are developed to deepen an
understanding of letterforms. Students will learn elegant handwriting, compositional awareness, and design thinking through a series
of applied projects, including manuscripts, posters, greeting cards, and other creative explorations centered on letter-based design.
Studio Art (106373/206373)

This course offers advanced art students the opportunity to pursue independent, in-depth work in mediums of their choice. With
guidance from the instructor, students will design and complete individualized projects that reflect their personal interests, artistic
goals, and creative vision.
AP Advanced Art (106393/206393)

Full year 1.0 credit
This course provides advanced art students with the opportunity to pursue a sustained investigation—an in-depth exploration of a
personal theme, question, or visual idea. Through continuous studio practice, students will refine their technical skills, expand creative
thinking, and develop a cohesive body of work that meets the College Board’s AP Art and Design guidelines. Regular critiques and
individualized feedback support each artist’s development as they work toward portfolio submission and personal creative goals.
Cartoons, Comics, & Animation (006352)

This course provides an introduction to the art of hand-drawn cartooning and simple animation. Students will learn to design and
illustrate characters, settings, and storylines using traditional tools such as pencil, pen and ink, as well as digital applications like
Procreate. The fundamentals of sequential art and visual storytelling are emphasized, helping students bring creative narratives to life
through movement and expression.
Applied Arts and Design (006222)

This hands-on course introduces students to the exciting world of applied art and design, where creativity meets real-world problemsolving. Students will explore how the elements of art and design are used in fields such as advertising, product design, illustration,
and digital media. Through fun, project-based learning, students will develop original ideas, learn to communicate visually, and
tackle design challenges using both traditional art techniques and computer-aided design tools. Critical thinking, collaboration, and
creativity are at the heart of this course. There are no prerequisites for this course. Applied Arts and Design will be offered on odd
years (2027-2028, 2029-2030, etc.).
Computer Graphics 1 (006422)

This course introduces students to the computer as a medium for creating fine art. Students will learn to use Photoshop alongside other
digital art software, while exploring relevant art history and design concepts. Through theme-based projects and self-driven
exploration, students are challenged to apply their technical skills to works that reflect both their personal interests and artistic
concepts.
Advanced Computer Graphics (006433)

Computer Graphics 1 is a prerequisite to Advanced Computer Graphics. This course explores advanced applications of Photoshop
while providing opportunities to discover other design-based software/applications. Students will create a mix of artistic projects to
develop their personal style and explore real-world creative challenges, developing both technical proficiency and a versatile creative
skill set applicable to digital media and design.
