Theatre Arts
Introductory Theatre (000402)
Grades 9-12
1 semester 0.5 credit
This is an entry-level course designed for all students. Students will be introduced to the basics of stage movement, characterization,
scene development, and performance skills. Students will also be introduced to the elements of stagecraft, including costume, props,
make-up, publicity, lighting, sound, and set design. Active participation in school productions as a cast member or crew member is
encouraged.
Intermediate Theatre (000412)
Grades 10-12
1 semester 0.5 credit
This course qualifies as an English Elective. Prerequisite: Introductory Theatre or through audition with instructor. This course is
designed for students who wish to develop their performance and/or production skills beyond an introductory level. In addition to
exploring ways to create tension, emotion, atmosphere and convey meaning on stage, and will learn more about the history and
traditions of theatre. Active participation in school productions as a cast member or a crew member is required.
Advanced Theatre (000422)
Grades 10-12
1 semester 0.5 credit
This course qualifies as an English Elective. Prerequisite: Intermediate Theatre or through audition with instructor. This course is
designed for dedicated students who wish to develop their performance and/or production skills to an advanced, pre-professional level.
Students will pursue an aspect of performance or stagecraft that interests them, such as acting, directing, or designing. Active
participation in school productions as a cast member or a crew member is required.
Children’s Theatre Workshop (000162)
Grades 10-12
1 semester 0.5 credit
This course qualifies as an English Elective. Prerequisite: Introductory Theatre or through audition with instructor. In this course,
students will work collaboratively to devise a piece of original theatre or stage a published play, which they will perform to
elementary and/or middle school audiences. Students will work as playwrights, performers, designers, or directors, developing
essential skills in creative collaboration, self-evaluation, and confident stage presence.
Visual Arts
Creative Connections (006205)
Grades 9-12

The Creative Connections course is designed to bring general education and special education students together in a collaborative artmaking environment. This inclusive approach creates a unique opportunity for students of all abilities to explore and express their
creativity while building empathy, communication skills, and mutual respect. By working side-by-side, students can gain new
perspectives, develop stronger social connections, and learn to value the diverse abilities and viewpoints of their peers. The course
focuses on fostering a sense of community, emphasizing each student’s contribution to group projects, and highlighting the role of art
in bridging differences. Through hands-on projects, students will engage in activities that promote cooperative learning, encourage
peer mentorship, and develop teamwork skills that will serve them both in and beyond the classroom.
Multi-Media Art (006212)
Grades 9-12
1 semester 0.5 credit
This course is designed to build foundational skills in both two-dimensional and three-dimensional design. Students will experiment
with a variety of materials and techniques, including—but not limited to—drawing, painting, sculpture/ceramics, and calligraphy. The
course offers an opportunity to explore diverse art processes and concepts within a single semester. Emphasis is placed on
understanding and applying art terminology, materials, processes, and the elements and principles of art and design.
